As part of the WDDD 2025 celebrations, a dedicated awareness activity was successfully conducted on 10 December 2025 at a primary school in Libreville, Gabon, with the core objective of preventing risks associated with the improper use of digital tools among children.
The session was led by Ms. Jaelle Alini, WDDD Ambassador for Gabon, who facilitated the discussions with professionalism, strong educational insight, and genuine commitment. The activity brought together students, teachers, and school administrative and supervisory staff, creating a holistic learning environment focused on digital wellbeing.
Key topics addressed during the session included:
- Risks of excessive screen exposure
- Mobile phone and video game addiction
- Internet dangers such as inappropriate content and cyberbullying
- Negative effects of digital overuse on mental health, sleep, and academic concentration
Alongside highlighting risks, the session strongly emphasized the importance of responsible and balanced digital use. Students were encouraged to engage more in reading, sports, educational games, and family interactions, with practical tips shared to help them manage screen time effectively in daily life.
The students participated actively through questions, answers, and interactive discussions, reflecting strong interest and awareness. Teachers and school staff appreciated the relevance of the initiative and acknowledged the positive impact of the message delivered.
This awareness activity played a meaningful role in strengthening digital detox consciousness from an early age and promoting healthier digital habits within the school environment.
🌍 WDDD 2025 in Gabon stands as a strong example of how education and awareness can shape mindful digital behavior and protect the wellbeing of future generations.
